Temple of Apollo Pythios on Rhodes

The island of Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese, an island group in the southeastern Aegean Sea. In 408 BC, near the end of the Peloponnesian War, three of the island's ancient cities merged to build and entirely new one - the city of Rhodes - on a site in the Ialysia region of the island.
Apollo (Greek Apollon) is the son of Zeus and Leto, and twin brother to Artemis.
